The Brain Week is an international event organized simultaneously in about 100 countries and more than 120 cities in France. Its aim is to raise public awareness of the importance of brain research. It is an opportunity for many researchers to meet the public and share with them the advances made in neuroscience research laboratories, to present the challenges for brain knowledge and the implications for our society. Thanks to the organizers and researchers to share knowledge in neurosciences!

And what are the advances in HCS Pharma in neurosciences field?

More and more studies demonstrate that brain diseases not only involves the cells (like neurons), but also their microenvironment, in particular the extracellular matrix (ECM). That’s why we have developed BIOMIMESYS® Brain, a 3D cell culture support that mimics the cerebral ECM. It allows to obtain relevant and physiological in vitro brain models in 3D. Thanks to that, we improve the drug candidate selection before clinical trials, to develop more effective and less toxic drugs. Our final goal is to improve patient recovery. Moreover, BIOMIMESYS® matrices are made with non-animal component, allowing the reduction of animal use for testing purposes. Our models are currently available for drug screening in Parkinson’s disease and brain cancer, including neuroblastoma.
