It was a real pleasure for us to be invited at the last West Data Festival, to present our last developments in Artificial Intelligence dedicated to picture analysis. We warmly thank the organizers, Laval Mayenne Technopole and ATLANPOLE biotérapies for this opportunity. We also thank Laval Virtual to help us to create bridges between biology, AI and immersive technologies!

Beautiful layers of 3D picture … but very complex to use!

We explained why we have chosen to explore the field of IA (since 2017), and how a small company can do it in practice. The first day of the conference was dedicated to testing, to comparing, to learning the basics of the field. We have met many IA companies (more than 120!) to understand what can be done to increase the quality of our analyses. Thanks to our partners TISBio Lille , agence dad and with the support of Molecular Devices, we have performed many tests with WEKA software (and the fiji plugin). In 2019, the conclusion was clear : AI could dramatically improve the analysis of 3D pictures, BUT no off-the-shelf solution is currently available…

We have decided to find a new partner, ISEN ( Higher Institute for Electronics and Digital Training) in Lille, to launch an R&D programme on the subject. The PhD student has begun his work last october, and we are now ready to go deeper, using Deep Learning technology and non-constraint methods.

During the West Data Festival, we have heard many interesting things about AI. The talk of Pierre Girardeau (Data scientist & associate at Cross Data) was particularly useful. We liked the nice quote: “Algorithms are to AI what tricks are to magicians.” Last but not least, it was a great pleasure to hear from Gilles Babinet 🙂
